Apply to the Program

To apply to the Tri-I CBM program, students must submit an application to the Cornell University Graduate Field of Computational Biology.

To Apply:

1. Before you complete an application, please read the Graduate Field of Computational Biology's admission requirements.

2. Once you are ready to apply, go to the official online application for Cornell University Graduate School. You will need to create an account to begin the application process.

Important: Be sure to select 'Computational Biology with Tri-I CBM program, Ph.D.' as your proposed field of study.

The application deadline is January 1.

English Language Proficiency Requirement
The TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT) is available for most test-takers and is the preferred version. For applicants in regions where the TOEFL iBT is not available, Cornell will continue to accept scores for the paper-based test (PBT).

Please note: We do not accept the IELTS test in place of the TOEFL.

Minimum Scores:
IBT Version: Writing: 20 Listening: 15 Reading: 20 Speaking: 22
PBT Version: 550 minimum score

TOEFL scores are valid for two years from the test date because language proficiency can change considerably in a relatively short period of time. Scores more than two years old cannot be reported or verified by ETS, and are not forwarded to institutions for consideration. If you took the TOEFL test more than two years before the date you applied to Cornell, please take the test again in order to have your scores reported.

An exemption of the TOEFL exam is only allowed under the following conditions:
